We here at Digital Eire are delighted to announce that we have been nominated in the 2013 Bord Gais Social Media Awards and have made it straight through to the final cut!! The Tweetaton initiative, ran in association with Autism Ireland and St. Josephs Secondary School Rochfortbridge, is in the running for the Best Social Media Only Campaign award.
The concept was to use social media like never before, by running a 24hr Tweetaton with the aim of raising money for both Autism Ireland and St. Josephs. This proved to be a massive success as we managed to raise nearly €12,000 in total! We also managed to take Twitter by storm, becoming a trending topic for a period of time during the Tweetaton event. The campaign also showed to us first hand that with a simple idea and the power of social media, it has the potential to become so much more.
Right from the start of the campaign we received massive backing from Autism Ireland, who organised a photo shoot with Keith Duffy along with many other background supports, and from St. Josephs School, who’s Parents Council, staff and army of tweeting students gave a massive amount of their time and dedication to support the cause. We also owe many, many thanks to our extremely generous sponsors locally, nationally and internationally. You all helped make this possible.
The Bord Gais Social Media Awards will be held in the Clyde Court Hotel, Dublin on Thursday, May 30th with MC duties being performed by none other than RTE 2FM presenter, Rick O’Shea.
